Meals $5 and under By: Zaundra

INTRODUCING MEALS UNDER $5.00

Check out our new section meal $5 and under. You won't believe it. For all you working people in the world. First entry. Yesterday I thought of how times are hard still with the economy. You know everyone in the world is still struggling in some way or form so I decided to come up with some emergency meals that I have made work in the past for myself and presently. Prime example yesterday I was so hungry.

Funds were low and I wanted something quick. I shop at my local Kroger in here Kentucky. They have a pack of corn dogs for $2.19 (package of 6 corn dogs)and a big bag of shoestring fries for guess what are you ready? $1.29. I shop the store brand for cheaper foods. You get more bang for your buck.

This will feed up between 1-6 people. I like to have 2 corn dogs and I guess that would fill someone up feeding approx. 3 people if they are having 2 a piece. I sprinkled a little seasoning salt on my fries placed everything on a big cookie pan and placed it in the oven for about 20 minutes on 425*

This meal came out really good. You can add in a cheap can of vegetables and a fruit cup all for under $5.00. This is a great meal to eat when you on the rush and hey who said these meals were just for kids? Hey I love corn dogs and when your looking for something different a quick that reminds you of your own childhood why not eat some food to take you back. Enjoy!

Quick Tips:
  • Shop for the store brands before you buy the real expensive brands. You would not believe how much you can find for cheaper that has the same great taste.

  • Plan you meals by week so that you will be able to do a one shop stop at the beginning of your week for all your meals. Give your self a weekly budget and hey guess what? It's ok to make sacrifices. It's all apart of life.

Note: If you have any neat meals you would like for us to add. Email us with your ideas and we will post them. Have a sweet night!
